WATER BAPTISM
Taking Your Next Step of Faith
Water baptism is a beautiful outward expression of an inward decision to follow Jesus. It’s a public declaration that you have put your faith in Christ and want to live your life for Him.
What Is Water Baptism?
Baptism is a step of obedience that Jesus invites His followers to take. When we are baptized, we identify ourselves with Jesus—His death, burial, and resurrection.
Going under the water represents our old life being buried with Christ, and coming out of the water represents the new life we have through Him.
“Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too may walk in newness of life.”
— Romans 6:4
Why Should I Be Baptized?
Jesus commanded His followers to be baptized, and throughout the New Testament, people who placed their faith in Him responded through baptism.
Baptism is not about becoming perfect, earning God’s love, or simply completing a religious tradition. Salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ. Baptism is a way to publicly celebrate that faith and say, “I belong to Jesus.”
